Gleason’s Score – Carcinoma Prostate

  • It is used for the staging of Prostate adenocarcinoma.
  • It is named after the pathologist, Dr. Donald Gleason, who developed it in the 1960s. He realized that prostate adenocarcinoma cells fall into 5 distinct patterns.
  • The Gleason’s score is graded from 1 to 5, 1 being the normal histopathological architecture, and 5 being abnormal patters of malignant cells.
  • The Grading of tumor based on Gleason’s score is as under

For the purpose of NEET PG, you may get a histopathology image for Gleason score. or the grade of the tumor.
